Merdon's experience as the Former Acting Architect of the Capitol and Deputy Architect responsible for the operation, maintenance, development, and preservation of 36 buildings, totaling 18.5 million square feet and more than 570 acres of grounds. Facilities include the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, House and Senate Office Buildings, Library of Congress, U.S. Botanic Gardens, Capitol Grounds and Arboretum, and Power Plant. Notable projects include the Restoration of the Capitol Dome.
